***UPDATE 6/2/20: With our state moving into the next phase of reopening, and many of our families returning to their regular work schedules, we want to be able to accommodate those who need an appointment time later in the day. We will now be scheduling well visit appointments throughout the day. However, we will still be seeing sick visit appointments only after 3pm. While we continue to use Covid-19 pre-screening, strict infection control precautions and separate entrances for well and sick visits, we do want our families to be fully aware a well visit appointment after 3pm would fall during our designated time for sick patients. Please continue to follow the text check in procedure and wear a mask in to the office. Thank you!

***UPDATE 4/21/20: We are beginning to bring in more children for well visits. We will continue to prioritize 15 months and younger, as well as children going in to kindergarten, 6th grade (must be 11 years old!), 9th grade, and those who will need sports physicals for the fall. We will still be using the same check-in procedure that we have been for the last several weeks. We will continue to have separate times of day for well visits and sick visits. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you!
***UPDATE 3/30/20: Please see this for healthful hints regarding telemedicine appointments-----
***UPDATE 3/26/20: The American Academy of Pediatrics and other healthcare entities are strongly encouraging healthcare professionals to use telemedicine services instead of bringing ill patients in to the office. We do have telemedicine up and running through the doxy.me platform. We are trying to do this type of appointment for ill children if possible, though recognizing that some children will need to be seen in person. Insurance companies have waived all co-pays and coinsurance for these appointments. We will still bill your insurance for these visits, but you should not have any upfront financial liability for a telemedicine appointment.
In this uncertain time, we would like to offer our patients and families some information and advice pertaining to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
First and foremost, please educate yourself on this illness. Some reliable sources of information include the CDC and WHO websites.
Do not come into the office for minor cold symptoms. Kids are, in general, very mildly affected by this illness and rarely need treatment. We CANNOT perform testing for the novel coronavirus in our office and WILL NOT be able to do this in the foreseeable future. That being said, the symptoms of COVID-19 are very similar to influenza: fever, cough, sore throat, congestion, and runny nose.
Reasons to bring your child in:
- 1)Fever (greater than 100.4) at onset if under 4 years of age
- 2)Fever at day 3 if not resolving
- 3)Severe cough, wheezing, or shortness of breath
- 4)Significant dehydration, vomiting or refusal to drink
- 5)Changes or alterations in behavior or consciousness
- 6)Significant sore throat , chest pain, ear pain, or headache
- 7)Suspicious or unusual rashes
- 8)If you are very concerned that your child looks unwell
If in doubt, please call the office and discuss with one of the pediatric nurses.
Please avoid bringing unnecessary people to your child’s appointment. We ask that siblings, friends, and relatives stay home if possible.
If your child is scheduled for a well child visit and is NOT well, please notify our office as quickly as possible to change the nature of your child’s appointment or reschedule it. Your child will NOT BE SEEN for a well visit if they are ill. We intend to schedule well visits for patients from 8 am – 12 pm and sick visits from 1 pm – 5 pm. We will have well visits enter the office from the South entrance while the sick visits will enter from the Main entrance for the foreseeable future.
At this time we are suspending ALL WALK UP HOURS.
In order to maintain social distancing recommendations, we are requesting that patients/families arriving for an appointment remain in their vehicle and text us at 309-846-3398 in order to "check in". We will text you back when we have an exam room ready for you.
In an effort to decrease spread of illness, all “touchables” have been removed from exam rooms and common areas. This includes books, toys, stickers, etc.
We will be vigilant about cleaning down exam rooms and common areas. To that end, please be patient with us as this may take extra time between patients.
Please remember basic precautions: wash your hands frequently, try not to touch your face, sneeze/cough into your elbow.
Avoid crowded places when possible, reschedule unnecessary travel, and avoid visiting others when you are ill.
Please continue to refer to reliable sources for updates regarding this situation.
As always, we have pediatric nurses in the office available during the day, and the triage line available after hours to help address your concerns. At this time, please be understanding as response times may be longer than typical.
We will continue to make changes as needed based on new information and announcements There may be times when we need to make changes to our scheduling to best protect patients and staff. We ask for your understanding and patience during this time.
